Fortnite is bigger than ever and with each new season and map revision, it adds new layers of gameplay experiences that keep the community entertained and engaged. A big reason it has done this for so long is because of the various crossovers with popular brands, series, and celebrities.
From Marvel and DC to Ariana Grande and God of War, Fortnite has allowed its players the opportunity to play as their favorite characters, while equipping them with items from their favorite shows, movies, and video games.
10 Glinthawk – Glider
With Horizon Forbidden West, the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, launching in 2022 for the PS5, the hype for the series has never been higher. The Glinthawk is an obtainable glider sold in the Item Shop that goes for 1,200 V-Bucks. This glider is a one-for-one recreation of the bird-like robots Aloy has to confront in Horizon Zero Dawn’s open-world.
Wolverine’s Adamantium Claws are available in Fortnite as harvesting tools and were unlocked by players who emoted as Wolverine when his challenges were live in the game. Unlike other harvesting tools, these claws only equip themselves when Wolverine’s built-in emote called Snikt! is used. Despite the Adamantium Claws having a rather limited use, there are few things as iconic as Wolverine’s claws.
8 Captain America Shield – Back Bling
Wolverine’s claws aren’t the only Adamantium items in Fortnite, as Captain America’s shield can also be equipped as both back bling and as a harvesting tool. His shield is a part of the Captain America Outfit bundle and can be purchased in the Item Shop for a staggering 2,000 V-Bucks. Though the shield is attached to Steve Rogers, with so many other Marvel character skins in the game it’s fun to put the shield on the back of some surprising superheroes and/or supervillains.
7 Rick’s UFO Cruiser – Glider
Rick & Morty is a show as divisive as they come, but fans across the globe started getting schwifty when the series had several cosmetic items included in the Chapter 2: Season 7 Battle Pass for Fortnite. Among them was Rick’s ship in the form of a usable glider, with the item being titled Rick’s UFO Cruiser. The ship is a bit smaller than its canonical counterpart and has characters holding onto it from below instead of riding inside of it, but it doesn’t take away from being able to see Rick’s iconic ship outside of the cartoon.
Almost every review of 2018’s God of War soft reboot mentions how satisfying and dynamic the Leviathan Axe that Kratos uses as his main weapon, feels in the game. When Kratos was announced as a skin in Fortnite fans hoped the axe would be included, and of course, it was.
It can be obtained individually in the Item Shop for 1,000 V-Bucks or as part of the Kratos Bundle for 2,200 V-Bucks, but if you don’t already have it don’t hold your breath, as neither of those items has popped up in the store for well over 300 days.
5 Jinx’s Dream Monkey – Back Bling
Netflix’s Arcane series has taken the already popular League of Legends series and introduced it to a broader audience. This has led to millions of people falling in love with the world and its characters, including the series’ main characters Jinx and Vi. Jinx’s monkey gadgets play a pivotal role in the show and letting Fortnite players rock one in the game as back bling is pretty great fan-service. The item itself is called Jinx’s Dream Monkey and can be seen in the item shop at regular intervals.
At its base, the ability to wear skins and equip items from your favorite gaming and entertainment properties in Fortnite is simple fun. When you add in additional fun interactions that fans will appreciate, it takes it to another level. Not only is Thor’s iconic hammer Mjolnir in Fortnite as a harvesting tool, but it can only be equipped and visually seen if you’re wearing a “worthy” skin. The only skins that currently fit these criteria in the game are Thor and Captain America, which is a fitting nod to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It isn’t necessary, but it showcases the level of care that is put into some of these crossover items.
3 Millennium Falcon – Glider
Star Wars is one of the biggest series on the planet. Because of this, it wouldn’t feel right to exclude one of its Fortnite crossover items on this list. Among the several solid options, it’s hard to deny how cool gliding into a game of Fortnite feels as you’re hovering down alongside the Millenium Falcon. The only negative thing about this item is that it was only available during the 2019 Winterfest event in Fortnite and hasn’t popped up ever since.
2 Proton Pack – Back Bling
When looking at the series Fortnite has crossed over with, Ghostbusters isn’t one of the largest, but it has an argument for being one of the most beloved. Ever since the release of the original Ghostbusters film in 1984 the series has seen its ups and downs.
Regardless, fans are still in love with the ghost-catching technology it introduced all those years ago. The iconic Proton Pack used to store ghosts can be used as back bling in Fortnite, letting you make whatever character you’d like to try their hands at being an honorary Ghostbuster.
1 Baby Groot – Back Bling
Is the Sapling Groot back bling item in Fortnite the most complicated or detailed? The answer to that is a resounding no, but it doesn’t take away from how adorable it is to have a Baby Groot with you swaying back and forth simply enjoying life. Equipping it to the fully grown Groot skin in the game gives fans their only look at two of Groot’s species in the same place outside of the comics.
