One of the most well-known faces in Birmingham’s property community has taken on a new post.
David Pardoe, who spent 14 years at boutique shopping mall the Mailbox, most latterly as its head of retail, tenant engagement and marketing, is now place activation manager with consultancy Colliers.
He will be responsible for a range of asset management initiatives, including community engagement, commercialisation opportunities and creation and delivery of environmental, social and governance strategies across the agency’s managed retail portfolio.
Rachael Lacy, director in the property management team at Colliers, said: “It is fantastic to have David join us in the new role of place activation manager as we continue to grow our services in the retail sector.
“The needs of our clients are changing and a more data-driven, on-the-ground approach is needed to understand the full picture of a retail asset across footfall, dwell time and spend.

In other appointment news from the property sector, Birmingham’s historic Grand Hotel has recruited a new deputy general manager.
Charlotte Horler has joined the Colmore Row venue, which re-opened in 2021 after being closed for two decades, following three years as deputy general manager of New Hall Hotel & Spa in Sutton Coldfield.
She brings more than 15 years of experience in the hospitality sector to the post including numerous senior management roles including with Walton Hall & Walton Hotel in Warwickshire and The Montague on the Gardens Hotel in London.
She said: “I’m truly honoured to join The Grand Hotel Birmingham. Our aim is to be Birmingham’s favourite hotel and I’m very excited to lead the team operationally to cement this while ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional experiences and create special memories for our guests.”
Consultancy Marrons Planning has expanded its West Midlands presence with the appointment of chartered town planner David Fovargue.
Taking on the role of planning director in its Birmingham office, he will be responsible for growing the business and promoting land across the country as well as secure planning permission for land promoters and housebuilders.
He joins the consultancy after 17 years at Wood Group where he was technical director – leading development of the company’s town planning service line.
A former Aldi area manager has swapped the supermarket for science and tech after being appointed to manage an innovation centre in Coventry.
Victoria Lynch is the new centre manager at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Business Innovation Centre in Binley after more than seven years with the supermarket giant.
Ms Lynch will be responsible for ensuring the Business Innovation Centre’s tenants have access to business support and the environment for them to grow and thrive.
She will replace long-time centre manager Penny Robb who is retiring after more than 20 years with the organisation.
Ms Robb joined the Science Park in 1999 after a long career in higher education and became centre manager at the Business Innovation Centre in 2012.
Solihull-based housebuilder Hayfield has added to its construction team by hiring Sam Foglia as contracts manager to oversee three of its developments.
He previously worked for Barratt where he was a project manager, co-ordinating trades, direct labour and materials to meet production programmes.
During his five-year tenure with the volume housebuilder, he also closely monitored and upheld quality and safety standards.

Estate agency Chosen Home has added two new faces to its team as it moves to a new home at Coleshill Manor.
The agency, which was launched in September 2020, has welcomed Victoria Maynard as its new sales administrator and Mason Gain as a social media consultant.
Birmingham outfit Principle Estate Management has appointed a new apprentice in its finance department, taking the team up to ten.
Aneesa Ali joins the company as an accounts apprentice after previous roles waiting at large events, working as a cash and carry shop assistant and volunteering as a nursery nurse.
She was recruited by Protocol Consultancy Services, which specialises in training and apprenticeships, and her main role will be processing payments on the purchase ledger.
